FC Midtjylland confirm that the club has signed the Croatian international defender Martin Erlic from Bologna. The defender has signed a contract until 2030.

According to Tipsbladet, the former Danish champions are paying €5 million plus €1 million in bonuses for the Croatian, which is the highest amount the club has ever paid for a player.

"Martin is a man of character and has been formed in environments where discipline and thorough preparation are a given. He exudes natural authority – both in the dressing room and on the pitch – where he leads with a strong winning instinct and an uncompromising mentality in battle and humility."

"He is a unifying figure who will help build on the environment we have created. It matches our values and the way we want to work at FC Midtjylland", says FCM's sports director Kristian Bach Bak to the club's website.

Martin Erlic chose FC Midtjylland after a process in which the club's clear project and personal approach made an impression.

"I could tell from the first conversation that Midtjylland really wanted me. The club traveled down to meet me and told me about the project – that made an impression", says the Croatian international.

"I come with ambitions. I want to win, play for titles and help lead the club even further in Europe. It is clear that Midtjylland has big dreams – and I share them."

The 27-year old Erlic joined Bologna from Sassuolo in 2024. He has played ten internationals for Croatia.
