The $20 million that he is set to make in 2027 is a franchise record for the most any player in Rays history has made in a single season.
Rasmussen started in five games for the Rays during their World Series run. He finished with a 2.20 ERA after giving up seven runs and only five walks through 28.1 innings with 31 strikeouts, including a shutout in his first start of the Postseason.
The 31-year-old finished the regular season with the seventh-best ERA (2.67) and third-best WHIP (0.91) - both career best as a full-time starting pitcher. His 174 strikeouts trumped his previous career high of 127 from a year ago.
The now two-time All-Star never finished a start after more than seven innings this year, but he posted nine shutouts. And in his 30 starts, he only allowed more than three runs in five games.
Since joining the Rays in 2021 via trade from, ironically, the Milwaukee Brewers, who they ultimately ended up losing to in the World Series, Rasmussen has posted a 45-21 record with a 2.71 ERA through 133 games (111 starts).
Rasmussen's Cy Young candidacy makes it back-to-back years for the Rays starter. He received exactly one vote after the 2025 season, in which he finished with a 10-5 record and 2.76 ERA through a career-high 31 starts.
