Club football is back with a couple of mouthwatering Premier League matches, while there's also plenty of intriguing NFL, F1 and tennis action to keep you entertained!

As usual, Flashscore's news editors have taken a closer look at the sporting calendar to pick out the key events over the next couple of days. Here are our Weekend Highlights:

Saturday, October 10th

China Open - all weekend

Having seen Novak Djokovic claim the men’s China Open crown earlier in the week, the WTA 1000 event draws to a conclusion over the weekend, with Mirra Andreeva, Nikola Bartunkova, Qinwen Zheng and Elise Mertens all looking to capture the prestigious title in Beijing.

French Open champion Andreeva will fancy her chances in a somewhat surprising semi-final lineup, but her opponent, Bartunkova, will be no pushover, with the rising Czech star dumping out Aryna Sabalenka and compatriot Karolina Muchova en route to the last four.

In the other semi-final, home hope Zheng will be determined to continue her recent resurgence when she takes on Mertens, with the Belgian having dispatched Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff in the previous two rounds.

It promises to be a fascinating final couple of days in the Chinese capital as the Asian Swing begins to really ramp up, so make sure you tune in!

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur - 18:30 CET

With all of the news of Manchester City during the international break, more of that to come later, the spotlight has mercifully been taken away from Tottenham.

Roberto de Zerbi's summer signings are yet to click, and they find themselves rock bottom of the Premier League after five games, without a win to their name.

More worryingly, they have scored just two goals to start the campaign. This weekend, they head to Old Trafford, looking for some form. It's not been that much better for Michael Carrick this season. Manchester United have only been victorious once in their opening five games - a 5-2 win over Ipswich Town - as their rebuild looks shaky at best.

Taking that all in, this is a must-win game for both managers to ease the pressure on their tenures. And if Spurs do fall behind, their recent form is harrowing - they have failed to win any of the last 37 Premier League matches they conceded first in (D8, L29), just one short of their negative all-time record.

Dutch duo Jan Paul van Hecke and Micky van de Ven are doubts for Spurs, whilst Patrick Dorgu could miss the game after injury during Denmark duty, so both defences could be light. Expect a tense atmosphere, and no matter the result, more questions will be asked of these two sides come Saturday night.

Singapore Grand Prix - 14:00 CET

This is a great time of the year for Formula 1 fans because the races come thick and fast. The Singapore Grand Prix is the third weekend of F1 action in a row and it follows a chaotic weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.

The race winner in Malaysia was Max Verstappen and with Red Bull looking very competitive at the back end of the 2026 season, the Dutchman comes to Singapore as the favourite. History suggests that when you give Verstappen a competitive car he will outperform it and win races, so expect him to challenge at the front this weekend.

It will also be fascinating to see if Ferrari can be as strong as they were last time out because if they are, it could be incredibly close between them, Mercedes and Red Bull once more. And if Lewis Hamilton can keep his momentum from his impressive performance in qualifying and during the race (after the chaos at the start) in Malaysia, then there is every chance he will give Verstappen a run for his money again this weekend. With the title all but wrapped up, fans would love to see the 2021 title rivals go at it at the front of the grid at least once before the end of the season.

Finally, championship leader Kimi Antonelli has proven time and again this season that it is a mistake to rule out his chances and although still unable to match the pace of his teammate consistently, George Russell has been in better form after the summer break.

The great thing about Formula 1 is that even when the championship is all but over, each race in each country has its own merit and there are more than enough exciting storylines (including some hazy conditions) to make this a must-watch race.

Liverpool vs Manchester City - 17:30 CET

The Premier League scriptwriters couldn't have cooked up a better set of fixtures for this weekend's action, with a blockbuster clash between Liverpool and Manchester City set to bring plenty of added spice.

During an extremely eventful international break off the pitch, City were found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought by the Premier League over breaches of its financial rules, producing a seismic shockwave through English football and everything fans have watched over the last 15 years.

Transfer ban? Expulsion from the Premier League? Stripped titles? These have been some of the punishments discussed regarding City's financial doping, but the club have appealed the decision, with a result likely in around 12 weeks.

One team that suffered the most during City's tainted period of dominance were Liverpool, who finished second on a number of occasions behind them, including in the 2018/19 season, where they racked up a staggering 97 points and still finished as runners-up.

Liverpool fans have every right to be furious, and you can be sure Anfield will be absolutely rocking and at fever pitch when the City players set foot on the pitch.

City have started the season well away from the controversy, however, sitting at the summit of the table with five wins from five. Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola's Reds are also unbeaten with two wins and three draws.

This Sunday evening contest is a tantalising proposition. Make sure you are strapped in.

San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks - 22:25 CET

The NFC West is arguably the NFL’s best division in 2026, and while the Los Angeles Rams have been tabbed as a Super Bowl favourite, there are two other heavyweight standouts out West.

On Sunday, it will be the San Francisco 49ers at 4-0 and the defending Champion Seattle Seahawks at 3-1 that will do battle, and given how important every game is across a 17-game season, this is shaping up as an early-season blockbuster.

Both teams are clicking early in the year, but it’s San Francisco that’s stood out among all 32 teams, as their 30.5 PPG ranks second in the league while their defense ranks third in points allowed at 16.0 per game.

While the 49ers are just 1-0 on the road this season, their lone matchup away from The Bay saw them post 27 points in their victory in Melbourne, Australia over the Rams, and given the balance between the run game and the pass game, this team is shaping up as a genuine Cup contender.

As for the Seahawks, they may not be undefeated on the year, but they’ve certainly found their groove as of late, with 30+ points scored in their last three games, with the team going 2-1 in that time.

The lone loss came on the road, and after going 6-2 at home a year ago, the Seahawks are 2-0 on their home turf to start the new season, with the defending Champions building a fortress in the Pacific Northwest.

On paper, this will be the standout matchup of the weekend, with both teams looking for superiority in the NFC West, and given how red-hot both have been this season, this is the blockbuster showdown of the weekend in the National Football League.
