The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday to even up the Fall Classic 2-2!

After rolling with a 2-1 lead throughout most of the game, Toronto's bats came alive in the seventh inning to put said lead out of reach following last night's historic 18-inning loss.

Game 5 of the 2025 World Series will be played in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 29th, before the series officially heads back to Toronto for the remainder of the season.

Game recap

Dodgers 1-0 Blue Jays

After a first inning that was all Shohei Ohtani - striking out the side then drawing a walk in the bottom of the inning - teammate Kike Hernandez put the Dodgers on the board first in the bottom of the second with a one-out sac-fly to deep right field.

Blue Jays 2-1 Dodgers

During the third inning, Toronto's Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would launch his first career World Series home run off Ohtani to give his Jays the lead.

Ohtani would go on to strike out the side in the next inning (4th), but the Dodgers would fail to retaliate in the bottom half.

Blue Jays starting pitcher Shane Bieber, who had given up just one run on two hits at this point in the game, struck out Ohtani to end his historic on-base record.

Blue Jays 6-2 Dodgers

After Mason Fluharty came in for Bieber to get the Blue Jays out of a jam, Toronto's bats came alive in the seventh inning.

After a Daulton Varsho single and an Ernie Clement double, forcing Ohtani to finish his night on the mound, Andres Gimenez would hit a line drive RBI single off Anthony Banda to put the Jays up 3-1, forcing Clement over to third.

After Isiah Kiner-Falefa lined out, Ty France would ground out to bring in Clement to make the score 4-1.

Before the Dodgers could get out of the seventh, none other than Bo Bichette hit an RBI single off Blake Treinen to bring Gimenez home to put the Jays up to a commanding 5-1 lead that the Dodgers couldn't recover from.

And just for added insurance, Addison Barger hit an RBI single to left field, bringing home Vladdy Jr. to make it 6-1.

Los Angeles would try to mount a comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving fans everywhere on the East Coast of the United States panic attacks as they still recovered from the previous game.

After Tesocar Hernandez walked, Max Muncy would hit a double to put runners on second and third with no outs.

Tommy Edman would ground out, bringing Hernandez home. But Blue Jays reliever Louie Varland finished the job in the end.

Toronto would finish the game with 11 hits, with four guys (Nathan Lukes, Vladdy, Barger, Clement) recording at least two hits. The Blue Jays went 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

As for the Dodgers, they put six total hits and finished the game just 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

Fluharty, Chris Bassitt, and Louie Varland would pitch a combined shutout in relief for the Blue Jays until the end.

Pitching performances

Bieber finished the game after 5.1 innings, giving up just the one run on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks in his first-ever World Series start.

The 30-year-old veteran came in the clutch for the Jays. He was originally acquired back at the trade deadline in a deal with the Cleveland Guardians

Bieber was still rehabbing from Tommy John Surgery, which he received in 2024, and was looking for a chance to revive his MLB career. Now, he helped his Blue Jays tie the series up 2-2.

As for Ohtani, he was done after six full innings of work, giving up four runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk in his first-ever World Series start on the mound.

The soon-to-be National League MVP went 0-for-3 at the plate as well with a walk, groundout, and two strikeouts.
