Clara Tauson secured the victory after two very different sets.
In the first set, the Dane was completely superior, while the second turned into a very different experience where Lys put Tauson under significant pressure with strong returns and solid play from the baseline.
"It was really cool to play here, and Eva is clearly a really good player, so it's nice to win", said Clara Tauson in the winner's interview and sent a greeting to the fans in South Korea:
"Everyone was cheering me on, and it was a great match, so I hope you all come back later this week."
Lys forced the game into a tiebreak, where the Dane, however, prevailed, winning 7-4.
Australian Maya Joint, who beat American Sofia Kenin in two sets on Wednesday, will face Tauson in the quarter-final, which will be played on Friday.
