Danish player Elmer Moller who crashed out in the first round of the French Open to Tommy Paul says, he has gotten used to receiving death threats and other very negative comments on social media after defeats.

Moller has become accustomed to receiving hate messages, especially when he has lost matches on the Challenger Tour. Allegedly often from gamblers who are frustrated at having lost a bet at the bookmaker.

He tries to mimit the amount of messages as to who can contact him directly, but he can't do anything about public posts, and he can't avoid facing them.

"I don't want to quit social media because people write something nasty, because then I feel like I'm giving them too much power. I don't want to live that way."

"I can't control what is written, so I don't take it that seriously, and it doesn't bother me so much. You learn to navigate it", says Elmer Moller, who says that its especially when he loses that the messages keep coming.

"It happens every time I lose, and I receive a lot of messages. There are degrees of as to what people write. I have certainly received some that were really explicit, and which are not appropriate to say out loud", says Elmer Moller to Danish news agency Ritzau.

He confirms that he has also received death threats. He has become accustomed to receiving such messages in his inbox after a match.

"The first few times it is quite tough, but in some strange way you form an acceptance of what they write. It is of course a shame that people can write such things, but it is part of the game."

Elmer Moller is currently ranked 108 in the world. Moller originally lost in the qualification final for French Open but received a "lucky loser" ticket to play in the prestigious Grand Slam tournament anyway.
