It was another exciting weekend across the world's top leagues with Christian Pulisic and Gabri Veiga among a long list of impressive performers. As always, we've used our internal rating system to pick out a best XI from all the action.

Here is our latest Team of the Week:

Goalkeeper

Donovan Leon (Auxerre) - 8.6

Going into the weekend with three successive defeats, Auxerre were looking for a reaction against Toulouse, and they got it with a 1-0 win on Saturday. Donovan Leon was the wall at the back that earned them all three points, making his most pivotal save just three minutes into the game. He saved Frank Magri's spot kick down to his left, before sealing a clean sheet.

It was his first game back from a two-match ban, and he showed what his side had been missing with the player of the match outing.

Defence

Nicolas Otamendi (Benfica) - 9.2

All the news surrounding Benfica heading into their clash against AFS was about Jose Mourinho.

The legendary Portuguese manager took over the reins from Bruno Lage, and was victorious in his first outing, beating AFS 3-0. But, on the pitch, it was the ever-reliable Nicolas Otamendi turning heads.

The centre-half was mighty throughout, winning 11 of his 13 aerial duels, whilst making 12 clearances and two interceptions. He was also effective with the ball at his feet, making 96% of his 90 passes, as his side began life under the 'Special One' in style.

Brandon Mechele (Club Brugge) - 8.7

Club Brugge had already found themselves with a seven-point deficit on Saint Gilloise in the Jupiler Pro League, and faced a tough test against high-flying St Truiden over the weekend. They got through it unscathed, winning the encounter 2-0, with Brandon Mechele stepping up for his side.

The 32-year-old, recently recalled to the Belgian national side, made his 500th appearance in the blue and black in this clash, and was celebrated before the game with a commemorative shirt. It was he who was celebrating just before the break, heading home a pinpoint cross to give his side the lead.

It was a fairytale moment for the Brugge icon, who was also given the honour of leading the post-match chants with the fans.

Who said romance is dead?

Kim Min-Jae (Bayern) - 8.7

Bayern Munich seem unstoppable in the Bundesliga this season, as they racked up their fourth-straight league victory on Saturday with a 4-1 success over Hoffenheim.

Kim Min-Jae, sometimes seen as a weak link in their backline, was at his imperious best in the win, hardly putting a foot wrong as he dominated in ground duels, whilst making sure his passing was as accurate as it could be.

Their victory certainly called for a well-earned tipple...

Midfield

Gabri Veiga (Porto) - 10.0

Our first of two perfect ratings comes from Portugal, where Gabri Veiga ran the show for Porto in their 3-0 triumph over Rio Ave.

The 23-year-old Spaniard was at his clinical best, putting in two sumptuous dead balls for his side to take a two-goal lead, before he thumped home the third of the game just after half-time.

Nico Paz (Como) - 9.6

Is there a more in-form player in world football at the moment than Nico Paz? Already the darling of Como and, if reports are to be believed, heading back to Real Madrid next season, his stock continues to rise thanks to performances like the one he had over the weekend.

He assisted both goals for Como in their 2-1 victory over Fiorentina, the second coming in stoppage time as his side snatched all three points. In four Serie A games this season, Paz has five goal involvements, showing just how crucial he is to Como's success.

Malcom (Al Hilal) - 9.5

Malcom's red-hot start to the season continued over the weekend as the Brazilian netted a brace in Al Hilal's six-goal thriller against Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.

The two goals made it three in three for the 28-year-old, but his side collapsed late in the second half, losing a three-goal lead to draw the game.

Wesley Said (Lens) - 9.5

It was the Derby du Nord in France on Saturday as Lens welcomed rivals Lille to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, and it was the hosts who were on top form, winning the encounter 3-0 as Wesley Said sparkled.

The Frenchman, with the club since 2021, opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a deft flick at the near post.

He would be involved again two minutes before the break, setting up Florian Thauvin to make it 2-0. All in all, he created three big chances in the clash, showing he is still a force to be reckoned with in Ligue 1.

Forwards

Christian Pulisic (AC Milan) - 10.0

Our second perfect 10 of the week comes from Serie A, where American Christian Pulisic was on fire in his side's 3-0 win over Udinese. He scored twice and assisted the third as he ran riot.

He showed great reactions for his first goal, and great power with his second. He is morphing into a dangerous striker under Marco Landucci this season.

Ludovic Ajorque (Brest) - 9.4

One player who can feel a little hard done by not picking up a 10.0 rating this weekend is Ludovic Ajorque. His Brest side were imperious against Nice, running out 4-1 winners as the 31-year-old had a hand in all four goals.

They were his first goal contributions of the season, as he manhandled the Nice backline, and with his three assists, he now has the most of any of his teammates this season so far.

Son Heung-Min (LAFC) - 9.3

It's safe to say Son Heung-Min is enjoying life in Los Angeles. After last week's hat-trick, he was in form again this weekend for LAFC, haunting Real Salt Lake for a second successive game, this time scoring one goal and assisting two more in his side's 4-1 rout.

His partnership with Danny Bouanga seems to be tearing MLS apart as the pair combined to score all four in the game.

Heading to the play-offs, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
