Upon our promotion, we wanted to accelerate the club's development and shifted gears in several positions, including the head coach role. The short-term objective was to ensure OB’s return to the Danish Superliga following the previous season and to bring fresh inspiration to the squad. We succeeded in both regards, but we now see a need to make changes to reach the next phase", says Sporting Director Troels Bech.
"The club's strategic direction and identity remain unchanged and are not up for debate. We have had ongoing discussions with Alexander about this," says Sporting Director Troels Bech on the club's website.
"The goal was to find a way forward together, but unfortunately, we have had to conclude that we were unable to establish a shared direction regarding culture and identity—something that is absolutely crucial to us."
The dismissal of Alexander Zorniger comes after just a single match of the new season, in which OB lost to Viborg FF. Alexander Zorniger managed a total of 38 games in charge of OB.
Alexander Zorniger had been in charge since 31 May 31, 2025. Last year, the team finished in 8th place in the Superliga.
The German completed only one season of his three-year contract. There are reports that former FC Midtjylland coach Thomas Thomasberg will replace Zorniger.
