The upcoming weekend is one that only comes around once in a blue moon, and while there's plenty to keep you entertained on Saturday - especially in the Premier League - Sunday is serving up a sporting feast that will leave you with little desire to spend your day doing anything else.

Here's what Flashscore's editors will be watching on one of the best days of the year in the world of sport.

Lazio vs Roma - 12:30 CET

Sunday's Serie A action will commence with the match of the week: the 163rd league Derby Della Capitale between Lazio and Roma.

There is no love lost between these two teams in one of Italy's most heated rivalries. Last season saw Roma claim a win and a draw as they recovered from a nightmare start to finish a point off the Champions League places. Lazio, meanwhile, endured a horrific campaign, where they finished seventh and missed out on Europe.

The Biancocelesti have won just once in their last five derbies, back in 2023/24. With that said, recent matchups have been very close: six of the last seven meetings have been decided by one goal or less.

Three points will be key as the pair seek to get off on the right foot. Roma have conceded just once so far in the league this campaign, the joint-best record. Lazio, on the other hand, have lost twice already.

Expect some serious drama at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, as these two will put everything on the line to enjoy local bragging rights.

Azerbaijan Grand Prix - 13:00 CET

As Formula 1 straddles the line between its European and Asian legs at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, all eyes will be on whether McLaren can make history

The team will win the Constructors’ Championship earlier than anyone ever has before if they finish first and second, or if they outscore Ferrari by nine points provided that Red Bull or Mercedes don’t claim victory. It would be a remarkable achievement, especially when you consider that their rivals all have genuinely elite drivers and that just three years ago they were very much a midfield team.

Sealing the deal so soon may not be easy though, with Ferrari finishing first and second in FP2 in Baku and Max Verstappen very much a threat thanks to some improvements from Red Bull over the last few weeks. What's more, with its high-speed sections and incredibly narrow corners, this is one of the most precarious circuits on the calendar, where even the smallest of errors can prove costly.

Should McLaren do what they need to, it will be the first of two titles for them this season, but which of their drivers picks up the other remains uncertain after controversial team orders saw Lando Norris close the gap to Oscar Piastri last time out in Monza. As we enter the business end of the season, will they continue to listen to their team and play nice, or are the gloves going to well and truly come off?

If they are, Baku is as likely a place as any for it to happen having played host to many a clash between teammates over the years.

Arsenal vs Manchester City - 17:30 CET

A blockbuster weekend of Premier League action which also features Man Utd vs Chelsea and the Merseyside derby comes to a crescendo on Sunday afternoon when Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal welcome Man City to the Emirates Stadium.

Both sides come into the contest on the back of impressive midweek victories in the Champions League, with Arsenal winning on the road at Athletic Club and City proving too strong for Napoli on home soil.

The Gunners - who spent over £250m on new signings during the summer window - are unbeaten in the last five head-to-heads, including an emphatic 5-1 home win over the Cityzens in February.

As for Guardiola’s side, they’ve bounced back impressively from back-to-back defeats in August, with talismanic forward Erling Haaland finding the net in five consecutive games for club and country.

This fixture has certainly had plenty of needle in recent years, and with both sides desperate to make a statement in the early weeks of the season, you don’t want to miss it!

Marseille vs PSG - 21:45 CET

The only place to go on Sunday evening is Ligue 1 as ‘Le Classique’ between PSG and Marseille takes centre stage in Europe.

On face value, this fixture might look a little lopsided with French champions PSG cruising in the league with four wins from four and Marseille already having suffered two losses. However, the history of hate between these two massive clubs means form goes out the window, especially this time as OM have home advantage.

Ok, so the Parisians might have actually won the last five meetings between the sides, but hear me out: there’s a chance of an upset here, as Luis Enrique’s side are experiencing a bit of an injury crisis.

Three key players - Joao Neves, Ousmane Dembele, and Desire Doue - are all expected to miss this match for PSG, and while Roberto de Zerbi’s side haven’t started the league season as they would have hoped, a spirited performance away at Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek held some positives.

Marseille are the kings of chaos - there has been a red card in four of their five competitive matches this season - while PSG are the kings of… well, football - they’ve scored 12 goals across their last three outings. Expect a clash of styles, plenty of niggle and for OM to make this clash as feisty as possible!
