Arsenal's Swedish international striker Viktor Gyokeres have registered his goal celebration as a trademark.

Swedish Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres' goal celebration has been trademarked. He thereby follows in the wake of other football stars.

This is reported by the Swedish Expressen, which has obtained access to documents related to the case from the EU Trademark and Design Protection Authority.

According to the documents, the striker's application was approved in September. The application includes a photo showing Gyökeres performing the goal gesture, which involves crossing his hands in front of his face like a mask.

Kylian Mbappé and Cole Palmer have also previously trademarked their goal celebrations. Palmer's reason for doing so was to gain better control over how his personal brand is used by others commercially.

"It was not about preventing other sports personalities, or children on playgrounds, from doing the same or a similar goal celebration," said Palmer's law firm in their explanation of the trademark protection, according to Expressen.
