Aston Villa are determined to value Morgan Rogers well in excess of £100 million as they prepare for an expected approach from Arsenal, sources have told Flashscore.

The Gunners are offloading Leandro Trossard to Besiktas for around £17 million as they start to make space for a new super-signing for their attack.

Rogers is the prime target, alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, and Chelsea are among sides that also have an eye on the Villa star as they seek new options for their attack.

Competition for the England international means there is even less chance of Villa being open to negotiating a lower fee for Rogers.

The current transfer market is giving Villa further hope in their stance on the player, at a time when they remain adamant they do not want to sell Rogers.

A £130 million value has been touted for Rogers, and while that might prove to be excessive it is true that Villa expect a fee significantly above £100 million.

Tottenham’s outlay of £85 million on Mateus Fernandes as well as a £100 million deal for Sandro Tonali sets a major mark in the summer transfer window, while Manchester City have really raised the bar with their record £116 million agreement to sign Elliot Anderson.

Those transfer fees give Villa confidence that their expectation of raising around £120 million for Rogers should be considered reasonable.

At this stage, sources suggest that Arsenal are not going to be deterred by Villa’s valuation of the player.

No official talks or approach has yet taken place, but it is anticipated as we head towards pre-season.

Barcola of PSG is a serious alternative option to Rogers, while Arsenal have also looked into a potential deal for Club Brugge's Christian Tzolis, who is on Tottenham’s radar as well.
