Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has spoken to the media ahead of this weekend's clash with Fulham.

United will be aiming to make it three straight wins in the Premier League on Sunday as they welcome Fulham to Old Trafford

Carrick will be hoping to maintain his sides spot inside the top four as the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool aim to climb up the table. A win would guarantee that and the former midfielder will expect nothing less than three points.

Dorgu out for an unknown period of time

Despite the need for a win, Carrick first gave some mixed team news and confirmed that United’s defence may have a few holes in it.

"Joshua Zirkzee is back training this week which is good news, first time as he's been out for a short amount of time. Great to have him back."

"Pat (Dorgu) will be out for a period of time, still working through how long that will be. We weren't sure whether it was cramp or a little more serious, at the moment it looks a little more on the serious note. How many weeks, we will have to see."

On Matthijs De Ligt: "He's not training with us yet, just working through the process of getting him back as soon as we can."

Carrick has no issue over Fernandes' future

Carrick was next asked about Old Trafford and United’s poor form at the theatre of dreams this season under former manager Ruben Amorim. He admits that consistency is imperative to the side seeking to climb back into Europe.

"I think ultimately consistency is the key to success and in my eyes it is one of the most difficult things to achieve, to be good consistently.

"It takes so much, to be able to cope emotionally with the ups and downs of this game. That is what we are working towards. We have had a great couple of weeks, two good results, big games coming up and it is about keeping the mind in the right place."

Finally, after praising captain Bruno Fernandes, Carrick gave a brief comment on the midfielder's future as reports continually link him to the Saudi Pro League. He reveals Fernandes is committed to the side and talks about his future are premature.

"Let's not get too far ahead. We are working towards this game and we are talking about the window now and it is closing in a few days. That is on the agenda a little bit but my main agenda is getting through the game with Fulham on Sunday and Bruno is fully committed.

"No issues at all with that. Things further down the line will be addressed towards the end of the season. Everything is positive at the moment and there is no reason to be anything otherwise."
