Liverpool must step up contingency plans after it emerged that Yan Diomande is prioritising a move to Paris Saint-Germain, leaving the Premier League side facing the prospect of missing out on one of their top attacking targets.

On June 4th, Flashscore revealed that Liverpool had begun assessing Bradley Barcola's situation at PSG as a potential alternative should a deal for Diomande fail to materialise.

That scenario is now becoming increasingly likely.

Liverpool had hoped they could convince Diomande to choose Anfield as his next destination, but sources indicate the highly-rated forward has his heart set on joining the French champions instead.

RB Leipzig, meanwhile, would prefer to keep the player for another season and are currently negotiating the premium PSG would need to pay to secure his signing this summer rather than waiting until next year.

PSG have also been strongly linked with £60million-rated Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche in recent days. He has attracted interest from clubs including Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham, but the Paris club appear determined to strengthen several attacking positions during the window.

That leaves Barcola as an increasingly intriguing option for Liverpool. While the reporting around Paris has been that PSG are reluctant to sanction his departure, it is understood the possibility has not been completely ruled out.

Should the Ligue 1 champions become open to negotiations, Liverpool are expected to position themselves at the front of the queue for Barcola.

For now, however, PSG are expected to prioritise other incoming and outgoing deals before making any decision on his future.

Liverpool will continue monitoring developments closely while exploring alternative attacking targets as they look to reshape the squad for Andoni Iraola ahead of the new season.
