Defender Eric Garcia suffered a broken nose during Barcelona's 3-3 Champions League draw at Club Brugge midweek and will have to wear a mask when he returns to action, the Spanish club said Thursday.

Coach Hansi Flick has used central defender Garcia more than any other player this season as the Catalan giants struggle at the back.

The club have conceded 20 goals in their 15 games.

Spaniard Garcia, 24, was pulled off during the draw in Belgium, where Barcelona needed to come from behind three times and will likely sit out their league game at Celta Vigo this weekend.

"He will wear a protective mask and any potential involvement in the upcoming game against Celta Vigo will be assessed," the club said in a statement.

Barcelona are second in La Liga, five points behind Real Madrid.
