Eredivisie champions PSV saved themselves from a true horror week by drawing 2-2 to NAC Breda, who nearly profited from a first-half meltdown from the Eindhoven club.

PSV suffered a midweek UEFA Champions League defeat to Newcastle United, who beat the Dutch champions 3-0 at St. James' Park. Peter Bosz's team was given a boost for the home game against NAC Breda, however, with Sergino Dest and Ismael Saibari returning to the starting lineup.

A dull first 30 minutes, which saw only a small handful of minor chances, were broken open by Couhaib Driouech, who scored his first Eredivisie goal since 2024 with PSV's first big chance of the evening.

An unconvincing PSV let NAC Breda back in the game, with the Breda outfit coming close to scoring via Moussa Semano.

An unbelievable end to the first half saw PSV lose all control: Boy Kemper headed NAC Breda alongside the Eindhoven outfit from a free-kick in the 45th minute, shortly before Charles-Andreas Brym completed an improbable comeback after stealing the ball from Jerdy Schouten and netting his own rebound a mere minute after Kemper's goal.

NAC resorted to defending in the second half in a bid to secure their first win away at PSV since 1992 and just the second since 1962. They were helped in their efforts by a lacklustre performance from the hosts, who failed to create a single chance in the first half-hour after the break.

Ismael Saibari, who took the spotlights with his towel antics in the AFCON final against Senegal, nearly headed PSV to a draw, but missed Daniel Bielica's goal as PSV ran out of time to save a point.

In another case of true injury-time drama, Curaçao international Armando Obispo became the saviour of Eindhoven by heading home from a sailing Joey Veerman cross to extend the team's unbeaten league run to 16 games.

PSV's lead at the top of the Eredivisie stayed massive, with nearest chasers Ajax 16 points behind, as the Eindhoven outfit shift their focus to their home game against German giants Bayern Munich of Wednesday, January 28th.
