After what seemed an eternally long international window, club football returns this weekend and there are a hoist of South Africans back in action for their teams around the world. 

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9

Aden McCarthy (Sabah, Azerbaijan)

Away vs Neftchi Baku, Friday 17h30

McCarthy has established himself as part of Sabah's first-team squad and gained valuable European experience in their UEFA Champions League campaign. The former Kaizer Chiefs defender will be hoping to continue getting regular minutes in Azerbaijan.

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

Sphephelo Sithole (Tondela, Portugal)

Home vs Torreense, Saturday 12h00

Sithole has been working his way into the Tondela side this season, having made one start and three substitute appearances in their opening league fixtures. 

Ime Okon (Hannover 96, Germany)

Away vs 1. FC Magdeburg, Saturday 13h00

Okon has been in and out of Hannover's starting XI this season, with five Bundesliga 2 appearances from the bench and just one start.

Manasse Kianga (Slovan Bratislava, Slovakia)

Away vs Skalica, Saturday 15h30

Kianga has made an excellent start to the league campaign, contributing two goals and two assists in his first three appearances, but since then has found himself playing for the reserve side. 

Luke Le Roux (Cercle Brugge, Belgium)

Home vs Anderlecht, Saturday 16h00

Le Roux joined Cercle Brugge from Portsmouth in September and is looking to establish himself in Belgian football. He has yet to feature for his new club.

Max Conway (Bolton Wanderers, England)

Home vs Stoke City, Saturday 16h00

South African-qualified Conway featured in all eight of Bolton's opening Championship matches, starting six, and has been an important option at left-back. 

Olwethu Makhanya (Rangers, Scotland)

Home vs Kilmarnock, Saturday 16h00

Makhanya has made an outstanding start to his Rangers career, earning the Scottish Premiership Player of the Month award for September. His performances in the two Old Firm matches against Celtic have been particularly impressive.

Jaedin Rhodes (Ried, Austria)

Away vs WSG Tirol, Saturday 17h00

Rhodes returned from an adductor injury in September after missing several matches. He has four starts and one sub appearances across all competitions. 

Yusuf Maart (Ried, Austria)

Away vs WSG Tirol, Saturday 17h00

Maart has started all nine games for Ried this season in all competition. He has been a stalwart in the middle of the park for the Austrian side.

Puso Dithejane (Chicago Fire, USA)

Home vs New York City FC, Saturday 20h30

Following on from his maiden Bafana Bafana goal against Egypt, Dithejane has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough MLS campaign, earning Chicago Fire's Player of the Month award in both July and August. 

Mbekezeli Mbokazi (Chicago Fire, USA)

Home vs New York City FC, Saturday 20h30

Mbokazi is back in action in the last two games in a huge boost for club and country. And he looks to have lost none of his sharpness after a spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury. 

Siyabonga Ngezana (FCSB, Romania)

Home vs Oțelul Galați, Saturday 20h30

Ngezana has still not played for FCSB this season with injury … will he ever again as the club may decide to offload him in the next transfer window.

Shandre Campbell (Kortrijk, Belgium)

Away vs Genk, Saturday 20h45

Also fresh from a successful Bafana Bafana debut against Egypt where he provided the assist for Dithejane, Campbell should be boosted in confidence and ready to feature prominently for his struggling Belgian side.

Tylon Smith (New England Revolution, USA)

Home vs Seattle Sounders, Sunday 01h30

Smith joined New England on loan from Queens Park Rangers in August and has had to settle for playing in the reserve side so far.

Bongokuhle Hlongwane (Minnesota United, USA)

Home vs Houston Dynamo, Sunday 02h30

Hlongwane has had a frustrating season in MLS, with injuries interrupting his campaign, but is not back in action.

Lyle Foster (Houston Dynamo, USA)

Away vs Minnesota United, Sunday 02h30

Foster joined Houston on loan from Burnley in September after a lengthy absence from competitive football and made his debut against sporting Kansas City late last month.

Relebohile Mofokeng (Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, Belgium)

Home vs OH Leuven, Sunday 16h00

Mofokeng has made an outstanding start to his European career following his move from Orlando Pirates. He has three goals and an assists in his six Belgian league games, and also netted in the Europa League.
