Here's a snapshot of how your club manager felt about their respective results at the weekend.

Newcastle Jets 4-1 Wellington Phoenix

Mark Milligan (Newcastle Jets):

"I think it's becoming clear now the direction that we're heading in. A very, very lively crowd and that's what we want. We can't just expect people to show up, we have to earn it and prove who we are. (The first minute goal) shows the intent we have as a group. We want to set the tone and be on the front foot early and I think that goal is a reward for being brave. It's about turning the excitement (of four consecutive wins) to positive energy. We haven't won anything yet but we've given ourselves a good opportunity."

Giancarlo Italiano (Wellington Phoenix):

"Always disappointed when we lose, especially when it was fairly even in terms of possession and chances created. We just got punished for sloppy defending. We mistimed a couple of things on the press in the second half, but in fairness they (Newcastle) probably deserved the points. In the second half there were opportunities to exploit the Jets but we just couldn't get the combinations going. The turnaround from Sydney played into it a little bit. I could use that as an excuse but I still think Newcastle had energy and we could have stepped it up a bit."

Auckland FC 2-2 Central Coast Mariners

Steve Corica (Auckland FC):

"Good performance with the ball, just disappointed with the two goals that went in. The first was a counter-attack that we should have scored before and the second one was a mistake from Michael (Woud) who should have done better. That game should have been done at half-time. When you're going through a bad patch, which I think we are at the moment, you can get caught out and a little bit of negativity steps in. That's an area we all have to improve in after another two points dropped and a game where we again gave another team a chance to get on top of us."

Warren Moon (Central Coast Mariners):

"We didn't play as well as we would have liked, but credit to the team. One thing we've shown the league this season is that we're fighters and we're staying in every game. There were moments in the game where I think we were poor - those two goals (conceded) in particular. As good as Auckland are, we gifted them the first goal and the second goal we turned it over in a poor area. But we hung in there, we fought and we got our rewards in the end. This is a good group of men that are fighting not just for each other but for the fans and the community."

Brisbane Roar 2-3 Adelaide United

Michael Valkanis (Brisbane Roar):

"What's disappointing is we should have finished that game off in the first half. We should have gone in (at half-time) not 1-0 up but 3-0 or 4-0. I didn't like the way we started the second half either, but we reacted well and then played at the intensity I wanted to start off with. It seems that teams don't have to create too many chances to find the back of the net (against us) which is especially disappointing."

Airton Andrioli (Adelaide United):

"(Burkitt's) desire to succeed and to play football is a desire to watch. I couldn't wait to find a way to give him an opportunity to prove that he could do it at this level. I'm really happy for the kid. I thought we played really well tonight and came here with the mentality that we could get a result. The things we were talking about in training during the week were coming to fruition and that builds confidence. We just want to find consistency now."

Macarthur FC 6-2 Melbourne City

Mile Sterjovski (Macarthur FC):

"I'm very happy. I feel like last week we put in a really dominant performance without the win and continued that form tonight. I was saying outside earlier that my second ever game in charge was away to Melbourne City, and we lost 6-2, so it was good to get one back. We have a tough match away to Adelaide, who are also in good form. (Mitch Duke) has settled in really well and it feels like he's been here for a long time. You saw tonight how hard he works and how well he links in. Very happy with his contribution."

Aurelio Vidmar (Melbourne City):

"It was poor. We know that. So inconsistent. The majority of the season has been like that and tonight was no different. It was a very poor startup and then it was catchup. We didn't win higher up on the park where we should have. We didn't deal with the physical duels well and that's something that has been a concern for us. Last year we were very good at it. We've shown a lot of good moments this season but also plenty of poor moments such as tonight. We haven't had much competition in a lot of positions this season and we need competition."

Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0 Perth Glory

Gary van Egmond (Western Sydney Wanderers):

"The boys worked awfully hard this week. The way that they have endorsed change and believed in it showed tonight. I thought we were the better team in regards to controlling the game and creating opportunities. There are definitely some areas we can improve in, but we had some limited prep and take some good momentum into next week's game."

Adam Griffiths (Perth Glory):

"I thought the game was quite evenly contested. Both teams had some good chances. The last 20 minutes was the difference. It was a combination of what they did well and we didn't. We turned the ball over cheaply, which mounted some pressure, and they put on some quality players to change the game. Everyone worked very hard in difficult conditions, but we just need to improve."

Melbourne Victory 4-0 Sydney FC

Arthur Diles (Melbourne Victory):

"It's hard to remember two dominant halves like that where we haven't fallen away. In terms of 90 minutes, that was probably the best (game of the season) so far. It was a great atmosphere out there, both sets of fans. Sydney came with great numbers which was outstanding to see. Great day, great performance and to be clinical as we were was the best bit for me. A clean sheet and three points in a game like that is a beautiful afternoon."

Ufuk Talay (Sydney FC):

"I think we started off okay, but they then went on a foray. They were very good in the transition moments when we turned the ball over. We struggled with the basic fundamentals of being able to control and pass the ball. Generally when that happens, it's only one or two players, but today I think the whole squad struggled with that today. We weren't good at executing our gameplan. I think our decision making wasn't correct. We lacked some football IQ today."
