Danish tennis star Holger Rune is reportedly "really scared" after being caught in Doha where Iranian missiles and explosions have put the city in a state of emergency.

Holger Rune was scheduled to fly from Doha to Los Angeles on Sunday at 7:40 a.m.

But the Danish tennis star, who is staying in Qatar to recover from his Achilles tendon injury at the Aspetar sports hospital, is now trapped in Qatar's capital, where "new, powerful explosions" were heard early Sunday morning, according to Reuters.

Holger Rune's mother and manager, Aneke Rune, says to TV2 Sport that it has been a worrying 24 hours for the team around Holger Rune.

"It's been a wild night. We didn't get much sleep. It all seems more brutal at night with the fireballs in the sky and repeated bangs. We spent quite a bit of time at the reception, and they were super sweet, so we finally went to our rooms and slept. But Holger was really scared last night. After all, it pours in with brutal news and images of attacks everywhere around us. Our flight is, of course, canceled today, and we now have no idea when we can get out," says Anneke Rune.

US and Israel carried out attacks in Iran on Saturday morning, which caused Iran to launch attacks against US bases around the Middle East, including Qatar, where Rune is currently staying with his team in Qatar.

Qatar's Ministry of the Interior states that eight people have been injured in an Iranian attack against the country on Sunday morning. This brings the total number of injured in Qatar to 16.

The ministry also reports that there is limited material damage and that they are encouraging people of Qatar to stay indoors and only go out in case of an emergency.
