Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will miss the remainder of the 2026 season with an ACL injury, effectively ending his time in the NRL as a move to England approaches.

Tuivasa-Sheck played just 11 minutes in the Warriors' 30-12 win over St George Illawarra Dragons in Sydney on Saturday night, limping off the field with an emotional expression on his face after attempting to play through the pain.

An Instagram post from the 32-year-old on Tuesday morning announced that scans on his knee returned the worst feared news.

That’s my footy for the year. ACL confirmed. Tough to accept but the season goes on. We got something special going. Big love for all the messages,” he posted.

It is the same knee that was reconstructed in 2016, when Tuivasa-Sheck played just seven games in his debut season for the Warriors after four years at the Roosters.

Tuivasa-Sheck will be watching on from the sidelines as his New Zealand Warriors charge towards another finals appearance - and potentially their first Grand Final since 2011 - without him.

Following the conclusion of the 2026 campaign, Tuivasa-Sheck is off to play for Wakefield in England's Super League on a two-year contract.

A typical nine-month recovery could see him miss the start of the 2027 Super League season, which typically begins in mid-February.

At best, he looks set for a hampered pre-season.

Tuivasa-Sheck will long be remembered as a legend of the Warriors family, having played more than 150 games over a ten-year period, making his return to the team in 2024 after a dabble in Super Rugby for the Auckland Blues.

His highest honours include the 2018 Dally M Medal, the 2019 Golden Boot (as the best international player of the year) and the 2013 Premiership with Sydney.

Roger recorded 77 tries across his 242 NRL appearances with both clubs.
