The Nashville Predators acquired forward Shane Wright from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for forward Matthew Wood in a one-for-one trade deal on Sunday.

Wright, 22, has three goals and one assist in 14 games this season on a career-high 14:14 average ice time. The former No. 4 overall pick (2022) debuted with the Kraken in the 2022-2023 season and played only 16 games in his first two seasons.

In his first full year (2024-2025), Wright finished with 19 goals and 25 assists in 79 games before finishing last season with 12 goals and 15 assists (72 games).

As for Wood, the 21-year-old has one goal and two assists through 14 games this season. He made his NHL debut during the 2024-2025 season (six games) and finished last year with 17 goals and 13 assists in 71 games.

Seattle adds net $63k cap hit as part of the trade.

Wood was the 15th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft out of Nanaimo, British Columbia and went on to become just the second player in Predators history to record a hat trick as a rookie.

They sit at 8-5-1 this season, while the Predators are 5-4-5.
