The Carolina Panthers made a couple of big defensive splashes on Monday, signing linebackers Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd to a pair of deals that combine for $165 million.

Phillips, 26, signed a four-year, $120 million deal with the Panthers that includes $80 million guaranteed. He's coming off a season where he posted a combined 53 tackles, 14 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, five sacks, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble in nine games with the Miami Dolphins and eight with the Philadelphia Eagles

The five-year linebacker, primarily known for his pass rushing, put up the ninth-most quarterback pressures (73) among 115 edge rushers and the fifth-most hurries (53).

Lloyd, 27, signed a three-year deal with the Panthers worth $45 million. He is coming off his All-Pro (Second-Team) season after spending the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished the 2025 season with a career-low 81 tackles - finishing below 110 for the first time in his career - but also posted five interceptions, one for a touchdown that went for 99 yards, which was the biggest pick six of the 2025 season in the entire league, and seven pass deflections on top of that.

Lloyd posted a top-five pass rush grade (82.2) after creating the third-most quarterback pressures (25) out of all linebackers, and a top-five coverage grade (81.1).

Opposing quarterbacks came away with a low 69.2 passer rating when targeting Lloyd - the best of his career by far. But despite only committing two penalties over the past two season, Lloyd had a career-high in missed-tackle percentage in 2025 (15.2%).
