Opta ran the 2026/27 Eredivisie season through 10,000 simulations in their supercomputer. Like last year, PSV have been given the best odds of winning the Eredivisie title, finishing top of the league in 48.5% of their simulations. It's a slight decrease from last year, when they were given a 51.5% chance to win the league.
Following PSV are Feyenoord (11.8%) and Ajax (10.2%), who trail the reigning champions by a massive distance. Feyenoord's number has gone way down from last year, when they were given a 21% chance at winning the title under Robin van Persie. Ajax, now led by Spaniard Michel Sanchez, were given a 10.1% chance at the title last year.
Between the two, Feyenoord have been given the best chances at finishing second, claiming the second spot in 14.5% of the simulations as opposed to Ajax's 13.4%.
AZ (8.6%) and FC Twente (8.1%) are the last two teams that have been given chances over 5% of winning the league. Surprisingly enough, AZ are mostly favoured to finish second (13%), while FC Twente's most popular finish was third (12.8%).
NEC, last year's third-place finishers, are most often predicted to finish fourth or fifth, which both carry a 10.1% chance. The odds of repeating a third-place finish are slightly lower at 9.7%.
Teams with the highest odds of finishing in the play-off spots, which are likely to be 5 to 9 again, are predicted to be AZ (5th: 11.3%), NEC (6th, 10%), FC Utrecht (7th, 8.9%), sc Heerenveen (8th, 9%), and FC Groningen (9th, 8.7%). FC Twente aren't favoured for a single position, but have a 44.3% chance of finishing in the play-off spots.
The relegation fight is expected to involve five teams: Fortuna Sittard, PEC Zwolle, and promoted teams ADO Den Haag, Willem II, and Cambuur Leeuwarden. Willem II is the favourite for the 18th spot (17.5%), while Cambuur have been given a 17.2% chance. The two are heavily favoured to be relegated, with Willem II having a 32% chance of dropping back down and Cambuur a 31.8% chance.
ADO Den Haag (23.3%), Fortuna Sittard (21.7%), and PEC Zwolle (21.6%) follow at a sizeable distance.
The Eredivisie kicks off on Friday, August 7th, with a game between Cambuur Leeuwarden and Excelsior at 20.00 CEST.
