Mason Marchment led the Blue Jackets to a wild 8-5 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, while Montreal's Cole Caufield did the same for the Habs in a close loss to the Boston Bruins.

Blue Jackets 8-5 Lightning

Marchment's third career hat trick on Saturday helped lift the Blue Jackets to the highest-scoring game of the season to take down a red-hot Lightning team.

He also racked up an assist to give him his first game with three or more points this season as the Blue Jackets improved to 24-20-7.

Tampa was 9-0-1 heading into this game, but fell to 32-14-4 despite Jake Guentzel's (24) two-goal performance and Nikita Kucherov's four-point game (one goal, three assists).

Kucherov (52) is now second in the league behind Connor McDavid (55) in assists and is also third in points (74).

Bruins 4-3 Canadiens

Caufield scored all of the Habs' goals in their loss to their long-standing rivals as they fell to 28-17-7.

After trailing 3-2 entering the final frame, Boston's Fraser Minten (13) and Morgan Geekie (28) score back-to-back goals within 12 seconds of each other to lift the Bruins to a win.

Boston improved to 30-20-2 on the season and have now won eight of their last 10 games.

Red Wings 5-1 Jets

Red Wings goaltender John Gibson has now won eight straight starts in net after putting up 26 saves in their win over the Jets.

During Gibson's win streak, the veteran netminder has given up two or fewer goals in five of the games, with one being his third shutout of the season.

J.T. Compher (8) scored his first multi-goal game of the season, which got the Wings out to a 2-1 lead to start the third period before teammates finished the job.

Detroit improved to 32-16-5, while Winnipeg fell to 20-24-7.

Hurricanes 4-1 Senators

Hurricanes standout rookie goalie Brandon Bussi put up yet another stellar outing after making 35 saves to help lift the Canes to their fourth-straight win.

Bussi has now allowed just one goal in each of the last three games and is now 19-3 on the season with the third-best goals against average (2.15) in the entire league.

Seth Jarvis put up a goal and an assist as he now has six points in his last five games.

The Hurricanes improved to 32-15-5. Ottawa fell to 23-21-7.

Kings 5-4 Blues

St. Louis' Jordan Kyrou (11) scored the late clutch goal in the third period to send it into overtime, also his second of the game.

But Los Angeles' Trevor Moore (6), who scored a goal in the third that put the Kings up 4-3, also scored the shootout game winner as his team improved to 21-16-13.

St. Louis fell to 19-24-9.

Sabres 5-0 Islanders

The Sabres are now 18-3-1 over their last 22 games after handing the Islanders their very first shutout of the season after a three-goal third period.

Buffalo goaltender Alex Lyon earned his second shutout of the season, sixth of his career, with 26 saves. Teammate Jason Zucker (13) had his second multi-goal game of the year, while Tage Thompson (27) is now tied for third-most goals in the league.

The Sabres improved to 29-17-5 as they now sit in third place in the Atlantic Division, while the Islanders dropped to 27-19-5, sitting in third in the Metro Division.

Mammoth 5-2 Predators

Mikhail Sergachev had three assists for the Mammoth, while four other players had at least two points themselves as the Mammoth extended their win streak to five games.

The Preds got out to a 1-0 lead thanks to Steven Stamkos (25), but the Mammoth scored three straight. Nashville would try to rally with a late goal from Jonathan Marchessault (9) to cut the lead to 3-2, but Utah pulled away in the end as they improved to 27-20-4.

Nashville fell to 24-23-4.

Florida Panthers 4-3 Minnesota Wild

Following a clutch Sam Bennett (19) power play goal with under seven minutes left in the third to tie it up 3-3, Brad Marchand (25) would play hero and score his second goal of the game for a game-winner in overtime.

Marchy finished the game with three points, including an assist on Bennett's late goal.

Florida improved to 27-20-3, while Minnesota fell to 29-14-10.
