The NHL only had a two-game slate on December 12th as fans saw a clash of Western Conference teams in the St. Louis Blues against the Chicago Blackhawks and the Utah Mammoth against the Seattle Kraken!

Blues 3-2 Blackhawks

Logan Mailloux and Matt Luff scored their first goals with the Blues to get their team out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period.

Chicago's Wyatt Kaiser (2) responded with a goal of his own to cut the lead in half as the game went into the second.

St. Louis' Justin Faulk (7) would score the lone goal of the second period to put the Blues up by two again. Andre Burakovsky (8) would try to rally the Blackhawks in the third with six minutes left in the game, but the Blues held on.

The Blues rebounded after losing their past two games as they improved to 12-14-7 on the year.

Chicago dropped their third in the last four games as they fell to 13-12-6.

Mammoth 5-3 Kraken

Following a scoreless first period, Mason Marchment put the Kraken up 1-0 within just four minutes of puck drop in the second. But Nick Schmaltz (12) and Kailer Yamamoto (4) put up two straight to give the Mammoth the lead.

It wouldn't be until the third period that the Kraken failed on a 5-on-3 power play, then 5-on-4, before Marchment (4) scored his second goal of the game to tie it up 2-2 with just over 12 minutes left.

Utah would battle back and take advantage of a power play after Seattle's Ryan Lindgren was called for a two-minute minor for cross-checking.

Dylan Guenther (14) would put the Mammoth on top with seven minutes left in the third before teammate JJ Peterka (13) doubled their lead to 4-2.

Lawson Crouse (8) hit the empty-netter to make it 5-2. Ben Meyers scored his first goal with the Kraken since joining the team last season to make it 5-3, but the game was too far gone by then.

Utah ended their three-game skid as they improved to 15-15-3. Seattle ended back in the loss column as they fell to 12-11-6.
