Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season is done and over with! So it's time for some knee-jerk reactions to some of the games before heading into Week 2.

As a reminder to all, knee-jerk reactions are how I reacted to certain games almost immediately after they ended. These are not meant to be taken as predictions, hot takes, or any variations of the sort.

Now, let's go over some of the biggest knee-jerk reactions following Week 1!

Ravens never learn

The Baltimore Ravens have arguably the best team on paper out of anyone else in the NFL. The duo with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry is quite literally impossible to stop, with some arguing it's one of the most dangerous of all time. However, the Ravens love imploding when they have a sizeable lead.

After pulling away from the Buffalo Bills in a game that was shaping up to be an embarrassing beatdown in front of their home crowd, it became another Harbaugh-coached disaster class that showed everyone this Ravens team has a love for shooting themselves in the foot.

Harbaugh's Ravens have blown 17 double-digit, second-half leads - that's the most since 1991. To add on to that, the Ravens are now the first team in NFL history to have lost a game where a team has more than 235 rushing yards and at least 40 points scored - the previous record was 277-0 for teams that achieved those stats in the same game.

This is nothing new and it's almost laughable to watch at this point.

Whether it was rookie kicker Tyler Loop missing an extra point - they lost the game by one - Henry fumbling the ball, offensive coordinator Todd Monken doing a putrid job of disguising the run in a crucial situation, or defensive coordinator Zachary Orr going full-fledged conservative defence after getting their 40-25 lead, the Ravens just constantly get in their own way.

They never learn from their mistakes and it looks like it's going to be another year of the same thing. They'll undoubtedly make the playoffs and more than likely win the AFC North again. But lord help the hearts of Ravens fans come January because this is getting sad to watch.

Dolphins are bad, real bad

All of our experts had the Miami Dolphins taking the game against the Indianapolis Colts - I don't think that's going to be the case going forward. However, Indy stepped on the field in mid-season form while the Dolphins players were still on jet skis in the Atlantic Ocean or on the nearest golf course - at least they played as if their minds were.

Not scoring a single point until the fourth quarter is either a testament to the Colts' defense or it just proves that this Miami offense is nothing special whatsoever and it's about to be a very long season.

Compared to how the rest of the AFC East division played this past weekend, Miami is looking like the sure-fire favourites to finish the season in dead last - and that's saying something when the New England Patriots put up a stinker against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Only posting 211 yards of offence compared to a Daniel Jones-led Colts offence that put up 418 total yards (262 passing, 156 rushing) is flat-out embarrassing.

Green Bay look like Super Bowl contenders

The Packers didn't just simply beat a Lions team that swept the division last season and put up the second-best record in all football with the No. 1 offence; they demolished them. At no point in the game did the Lions look as if they had a shot of even coming close to winning the game - Green Bay looked that good.

The Lions had way more time of possession and more first downs. Yet, they still couldn't, one, score more points, or, two rack up more yards. Detroit put up 246 yards to the Packers' 266 with almost 11 more minutes of possession time.

Green Bay shut down the run and held Jared Goff to just 200 yards in the air despite completing 31-of-39 passes, sacking him four times and picking him off once. After Jayden Reed's touchdown from a Jordan Love pass in the second quarter, Green Bay held at least a two-score lead the entire rest of the game.

It was one-sided the entire way, and Green Bay made themselves stick out from the majority of teams this past week.

Steelers could be a problem

"They faced the Jets." Yes, a Jets team that looks a lot better with Justin Fields as their quarterback. The same Jets team that almost posted 400 total yards of total offence who also ranked No. 6 overall this week. But the Steelers veterans showed why they've lasted a long time in the league.

Both quarterback Aaron Rodgers and cornerback Jalen Ramsey came up clutch for the Steelers down the stretch and that's not something you're going to see often with younger players.

New York managed to get four sacks on Rodgers and held their rushing offence to just a measly 53 yards on 20 total attempts. So, Pittsburgh undoubtedly has offensive line issues they need to work on, and the tape is even worse than the stats show. But good teams know how to win. And that's exactly what the Steelers did.

I'm not saying they can be Super Bowl contenders. But they definitely made a great first Week 1 impression in showing they have a team that will pull through when it matters most.

Cam Ward looks promising, Titans don't

The Titans' offensive line gave up a league-high six sacks during Sunday's game against the Broncos and were rated (33.9) just above the Rams (33.3) for the worst pass-blocking group of the week. Not a single wide receiver on the team had above a 60.0 this week - proving that rookie quarterback Cam Ward needs help and fast.

From receivers dropping open passes to end up losing a game to a Denver team that didn't look good by any stretch of the imagination, this shows that the Titans have one bright spot and it's their rookie quarterback who did all he could against the league's No. 1 defence.

But what's even worse is their receivers aren't rookies either, they're well-established veterans in Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, and Van Jefferson. In fact, rookie tight end Gunnar Helm was the highest-graded (63.0) out of all of them despite having just one reception.

They go home to face the Los Angeles Rams on September 14th. God knows how that match will go with pass rushers Jared Verse and Byron Young leading a Rams pass rush that sacked Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud three times, hit him four times, and hurried him 11.
