The New York Jets fear that starting right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (26) may be out for the season with a torn triceps.

Vera-Tucker, who was named one of the team's captains this year, is currently awaiting a second opinion on whether or not he will need surgery. If he does, his 2025 season is officially over before it begins.

It's worth noting that Vera-Tucker missed most of the 2022 season after suffering the same injury.

The injuries continue to pile up for the veteran guard. He started in every game for the Jets in his rookie season after being selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2021 draft.

He played in 15 games last season and finished as one of the best guards in all of football. Vera-Tucker ranked 15th out of 136 guards, ranking 19th in pass blocking and 17th in run blocking.

The loss of Vera-Tucker will be a massive blow to the Jets' offensive line for the year. No official moves have been made yet for who will be his replacement - either backup Xavier Newman-Johnson or center Joe Tippmann moves over to right guard.

Vera-Tucker is currently in the final year of his current rookie deal and is set to be a free agent after the year.
