Francisco Lindor (New York Mets), Jackson Holliday (Baltimore Orioles), and Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks) will each undergo surgery after injuring their hamate bone in their hands, according to their respective teams.

Lindor, 32, who had a stress fracture in the hamate bone of his left hand, is questionable for Opening Day (March 26th). The team ruled Lindor out for at least six weeks. Teammate A.J. Minter, who underwent left lat surgery, is expected to be back in May.

Lindor is a five-time All-Star, four-time Silver Slugger, two-time Gold Glove winner, and a recipient of the Platinum Glove award. He slashed .267/.346/.466 with 31 home runs, 86 RBI, and 31 stolen bases last season.

Orioles' President of Baseball Operations stated that Holliday will miss Opening Day (March 26th), but his timeline for his return will be evaluated in a few weeks.

Holliday, 22, who broke his hamate bone in his right hand, slashed .242/.314/.375 with 17 home runs, 55 RBI, and 17 stolen bases in 149 games last season for the O's.

Caroll, 25, much like Holliday, broke the hamate bone in his right hand during batting practice on Tuesday. He was set to compete with Team USA at the World Baseball Classic, but will now miss the event. The team is still weighing their options on his replacement for the worldwide tournament.

Carroll led all of baseball for the second straight season in triples with 17 - the third straight for most in the National League. He finished last season with a .259/.343/.541 slashline, hitting 31 home runs and 84 RBI with 32 stolen bases, earning his second All-Star selection and first Silver Slugger award.

D'Backs teammate and star pitcher Corbin Burnes is eyeing a return after the All-Star break as he continues to recover from Tommy John Surgery. Meanwhile, Andrew Saalfrank will miss the entire 2026 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

A hamate bone is located in the base of the hand that is prone to breaking easily, especially among professional athletes.

Surgery on the bone often involves removing it entirely due to its weak blood supply.
