Alcaraz put on a show to give Team Europe a 3-1 lead at the end of the opening day, with the Spaniard and Jakub Mensik beating Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-4.
Producing some stunning shots at the net and perfect lobs from the back of the court, Alcaraz looked to be having the time of his life, and it left him longing for more doubles.
"100%. I wish I could play more doubles during the whole year," he told Flashscore when asked whether he'd like to play doubles matches more often.
"It's tricky. Because of the scale of the singles, how demanding physically and mentally it can be, a single match, I try to make the most of the day I have between matches to rest up and feel better. If I'm playing doubles, I cannot use that day to rest up, and probably I'm going to put my body into a stressed situation.
"But I will consider in some tournaments to play doubles, because I just have a lot of fun. I enjoy it so much out there."
Aside from being enjoyable, Alcaraz also feels that playing doubles makes him a better singles player, and he'd like to use that as a tool.
"I use it to be better, in some specific moments when I play in the singles, so hopefully I'm healthy enough physically to play more doubles on the tour."
