It's the day of the men's semi-finals in Madrid, in which the two most in-form male players on the planet will meet when Jannik Sinner faces Arthur Fils, before Alexander Zverev goes up against surprise package Alexander Blockx.

22:01 CET - Alexander Zverev has joined Jannik Sinner in the Madrid Open final, with the German finishing the job to beat Alexander Blockx 6-2, 7-5.

The second was a much tighter affair than the first thanks to the Belgian's ability to fend off break points, with him saving seven of them. However, Zverev took his eighth opportunity to go 6-5 ahead and then served things out.

Like Sinner earlier, he didn't face a single break point, and will know that he's in with a chance on Sunday if he serves as well as he did today.

20:58 CET - There are no signs of a surprise in the Spanish capital, with Zverev winning the first set 6-2 in 41 minutes.

The German dominated on his own serve, winning 72% of points on it, and won almost half of the points on his opponent's too.

If it continues like this, it won't be long before he seals his spot in the final.

20:15 CET - The second men's semi-final is underway! Follow every point of it here.

19:33 CET - Right then, on to the second semi-final!

It's no surprise to see world number three Alexander Zverev in it, with this being the German's fifth consecutive Masters 100 semi-final. He dropped just one set on the way to it, against Jakub Mensik in the last eight.

Nobody would have expected him to now be facing Alexander Blockx today, though, with the unseeded player being the tournament's surprise package. He wasn't just the beneficiary of an east draw either, with the 21-year-old claiming impressive straight-sets wins over Casper Ruud and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

This will be the first time that the two players have met.

17:57 CET - Watching him today, it was hard not to think that we're about to see a truly historic month or so from Sinner.

If he wins the final on Sunday, the Italian Open and the French Open, he will have won every Masters 1000 tournament and every Grand Slam, a feat that has only ever been achieved by Djokovic.

With Alcaraz out injured, it's difficult to see anyone stopping him from doing so unless the Serb himself can roll back the years.

17:39 CET - Jannik Sinner's astonishing run goes on! The Italian has seen things out, beating Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-4 to claim his 22nd win in a row and his 27th consecutive victory in Masters 1000 tournaments.

Fils put up more of a fight in the second set, holding his serve all the way to 4-4, but the world number one forced a break point in the game after that and took his chance before serving things out.

The Frenchman can take some encouragement, but it was ultimately yet another imperious display from Sinner, who didn't face a single break point himself.

His win means that he's the fourth player in the history of tennis to make the final of all nine ATP Masters 1000 events, joining the Big Three of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

16:50 CET - Jannik Sinner has taken a 6-2 lead over Arthur Fils in the first of the men's sem-finals in Madrid, with the world number one needing less than 40 minutes to claim the first set in commanding fashion.

Fils needs to come back strong in the second to prevent Sinner from waltzing into the final.

16:12 CET - The first men's semi-final in Madrid - between world number one Jannik Sinner and French talent Arthur Fils - is now underway!

Follow every point of the match here!

15:15 CET - The clash between Sinner and Fils is just 45 minutes away, so let's take a look at their respective routes to the finals.

The Italian didn't get off to the best start, losing a set in a fairly unconvincing opener with Benjamin Bonzi, but he hasn't dropped another one since then. However, he was tested by young Spanish sensation Rafael Jodar, with the gruelling second set of their clash lasting for one hour and 13 minutes.

Fils' biggest challenge came in his opening match against Ignacio Buse, with the Frenchman barely surviving a battle that consisted of two tiebreaks and lasted for just under three hours. He's seen off the rest of his opponents without too much trouble, with his straight-sets win over Miami finalist Jiri Lehecka particularly impressive.

12:30 CET - First up, the two most in-form players in men's tennis will do battle, with world number one Jannik Sinner taking on French talent Arthur Fils.

Sinner is on a simply remarkable run, with the world number one winning each of his last 21 matches and each of his last 26 at Masters 1000 tournaments. Across those 26 clashes, he's dropped just two sets.

That undoubtedly makes him the favourite for his clash with Fils, but the Frenchman is enjoying quite the year himself. He's won each of his last nine, and has the Barcelona title along with a runners-up spot in the Doha final to his name in 2026. Aside from Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, he's probably been the best men's player of the season.

They're not familiar foes, only meeting once back in 2023, with Sinner winning that clash in straight sets. This is the first time that they're facing one another on clay.

Neither have been beaten on the surface so far in 2026, but that will change this afternoon.

12:10 CET - Hello and welcome to Flashscore's live coverage of the men's semi-finals at the 2026 Madrid Open!

Just four men remain standing in the Spanish capital, and today, they'll fight for the right to return to the court on Sunday and attempt to claim one of the biggest prizes in tennis.
