Gausman, 35, gave up just two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk to bring his season earned run average down to 4.29.
The former Blue Jays starter was traded to the Cubs for prospects Brett Bateman (CHI's No. 21) and Ty Southisene (CHI's No. 13) at the deadline. He is only one of three pitchers to toss more than 900 strikeouts with a sub-3.75 ERA since 2022.
