Following the end of their perfect start to the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) season in Round 5, Frolunda bounced back to stay top of the standings, but were made to grind out their 2-1 win at HV71, who remain bottom of the pile with no points. Meanwhile, champions Lulea ended a three-match losing streak as they defeated Leksand.

Farjestad put an end to Frolunda's five-match winning run in midweek, so a trip to the only team in the league yet to pick up a point looked to be the perfect tonic to bounce back, but HV71 did not make things easy.

Jacob Peterson gave the Gothenburg side an expected lead in the eighth minute, but they failed to press home their advantage, and a powerplay allowed Aleksi Heponiemi to equalise in the 17th minute of the second period to give the hosts hope of an upset.

That hope was quickly dashed by Ivar Stenberg when he restored Frolunda's lead less than two minutes later, but again they failed to put the game to bed, and were under pressure in the final period as a result, having fewer shots, but their opponents were unable to grind out a late leveller.

Frolunda, therefore, did just enough to move onto 15 points from a possible 18, while HV71 will try again in Round 7 to get off the mark.

Frolunda are, however, still only clear on goal difference, after Vaxjo continued their fine start with a 4-2 win over Frolunda's conquerors Farjestad. It's a third win in a row for the Lakers, while Farjestad continue their inconsistent start, winning three of their six games so far.

Newly-promoted Djurgarden are up to fourth and level on 12 points with the side directly above them, Timra, who they beat 4-2 at home to end the visitors' four-match winning streak.

Having been surprised by Linkoping in midweek, Rogle bounced back and moved into fifth by heaping more misery on last season's Regular Season winners Brynas, who have still won just one game in regulation time this season after the 4-3 loss this evening.

Rounding off the top six are Malmo, against whom Linkoping could not build on their first win of the season, instead going down to a 5-2 defeat at home. A point ahead of Linkoping are Orebro, who continued their dreadful form with a 3-0 defeat at home to Skelleftea.

Finally, SHL champions Lulea have returned to winning ways after a 4-1 win away at Leksand, ending a three-match losing run and climbing to ninth in the table, a point and a place behind their opponents.

Kalle Ostman cancelled out Brian O'Neill's opener to end the first period level, but from then on it was all Lulea, who retook the lead courtesy of Pontus Andreasson, before late empty-netters from Casper Juustovaara Karlsson and Markus Nurmi sealed the victory.
