NHL roundup: Vegas Golden Knights score six on the road to beat Toronto Maple Leafs

The National Hockey League (NHL) saw several games on Friday, where the Vegas Golden Knights scored for fun in Toronto. A look back at a couple of the matches.

Chicago Blackhawks 1-2 Tampa Bay Lightning (SO) 

The Tampa Bay Lightning continued their winning ways with a shootout success away to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Both teams scored once each during regulation, with the home side taking the lead twoards the end of the second period. Ryan Greene made the most of his chance to get the game's opening goal.

With less than two minutes left in regulation time, the Bolts found their answer. Nikita Kucherov was able to find the back of the net to tie things up.

A shootout was ultimately required to find a winner. Dominic James was the one to get the winner for the Lightning, with his goal in the fifth round settling the score. 

The 2-1 win for Tampa puts them top of the Eastern Conference, one point more than the Detroit Red Wings and Carolina Hurricanes. As for the Blackhawks, they remain out of the playoff spots in the West.

Toronto Maple Leafs 3-6 Vegas Golden Knights

Two goals in each period were enough for the Vegas Golden Knights to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3. Jach Eichel and Keegan Kolesar got them in front in the opening frame.

It took the Buds just 13 seconds after the intermission to get on the scoreboard. John Tavares' marker gave them hope for a comeback. Pavel Dorofeyev and Braeden Bowman had other plan, with the dou scoring for the visitors to make it 4-1.

The Leafs did not give up quite yet. Scott Laughton and Bobby McaMann added onto the Golden Knights' lead to put their side in a solid spot for the third.

Toronto could not finish their chances, as Nick Stone scored twice to round out the scoring.

Vegas are in fourth place in the West thanks to an important victory. As for the Leafs, they stay two points out of a playoff spot in the East.
