Tuesday saw several games in the National Hockey League (NHL), with many of the matches being decided by one goal.

Winnipeg Jets 3-2 Chicago Blackhawks (OT)

The Winnipeg Jets were involved in an overtime clash for the fourth game in a row. This one went their way as they edged the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 at home in a fascinating affair.

Both teams got on the board in the opening frame as Dylan Samberg put the Jets in front. Teuvo Teravainen responded towards the end of the period via a power play.

After a scoreless second period, Ryan Greene gave Chicago their first lead of the game straight after the restart. Holding off their opponents for the majority of the remaining time, it looked like the guests would come away with the victory. Then, with 39 seconds left, Cole Perfetti tied things up to force extra hockey.

Mark Scheifele gave Winnipeg the win two minutes into overtime, ending a two-game losing streak for the Manitoban team. They are still well out of a playoff berth, though they did pass the Blackhawks with the result.

Buffalo Sabres 3-2 Vegas Golden Knights

The Buffalo Sabres held on for another victory, this time beating the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2. Jason Zucker gave the hosts the advantage four minutes into the contest.

Buffalo, heading into the match on a three-game winning run, added a pair more in the second through Owen Power and Tage Thompson. Leading 3-0 at this stage, they looked well on their way to another straightforward victory. It turned out to be anything but that.

A minute later, Ivan Barbashev got the Golden Knights on the board, giving them hope. Moments after that, Pavel Dorofeyev reduced the deficit to one, leaving the fans at the KeyBank Center nervous.

However, Vegas could not find the pivotal third goal. A pretty tame third period saw them fail to create many goalscoring opportunities as they slumped to a third successive defeat. They stay third in the Western Conference, and will hope to end their losing skid soon.

As for the Sabres, they moved up to sole possession of third spot in the East thanks to a fourth victory on the spin. With it being their 30th regulation time success, that leads the Eastern Conference.
