Danish national team player Helena Elver is leaving her Hungarian club, Gyor, when her contract expires at the end of this season. The handball club announced this on their website on Thursday. The Hungarian club states that Elver is leaving for family reasons and wishes to return home to Denmark.

The 28-year-old playmaker joined Gyor in the summer of 2025 from Odense Handball, where she will now once again be tasked with orchestrating the play.

So far, Helena Elver has played 44 matches for the Hungarian handball club, scoring 151 goals.

Helena Elver was named Women’s National Team Player of the Year for her performances last season.

She made her national team debut against Norway in 2019.
