Skanderborg AGF actually made a very promising start in the largely empty arena in Bucharest, where the soundscape was dominated by one highly enthusiastic Romanian fan armed with a megaphone.
As usual, Kristjan Kristjansson was a standout performer for the East Jutland side; however, having been ill in the days leading up to the match, he seemed short of energy in the opening phase.
After scoring two goals in the first ten minutes, he was substituted for 19-year-old Oscar Hansen.
From that point on, Skanderborg AGF’s play became quite disjointed as the offense simply failed to get into the attacking flow it had enjoyed in the opening stages.
Coach Nick Rasmussen hesitated to deploy the seven-on-six tactic, and the Romanians gradually seized the momentum.
When Skanderborg AGF finally attempted the seven-on-six setup, they conceded a goal immediately, and the visitors went into the break trailing 12–16.
Things did not improve much after the interval. Skanderborg AGF struggled to get their attack going, and within just six minutes, Dinamo București had extended their lead to eight goals.
The East Jutland side had no answer and appeared disheartened and things gradually went completely off the rails for Nick Rasmussen’s squad as keeper Samir Bellahcene effectively slammed the door shut in the Romanian goal.
