22:58 CET - That’s all she wrote at Anfield, and Liverpool have overcome Newcastle 4-1 thanks to a brace from Hugo Ekitike, one from Florian Wirtz and a late fourth from Ibrahima Konate, all following Anthony Gordon’s opener for the Magpies.
Arne Slot’s side were good value for the win tonight, while Eddie Howe’s side seemed to rapidly fade out of the contest. The Reds are up to fifth thanks to the win, with Manchester United yet to play this week.

Over in Spain, LaLiga leaders Barcelona have restored a four-point lead at the top of the standings (for now), after outclassing Elche 3-1. Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford got the goals for the visitors.
