Both teams are 5-0 this season against their opposing conference heading into this game. Both teams are back in the Super Bowl for a rematch of 2015. And both teams boast a top 10 defence. It will be an all-out brawl with historical milestones on the line.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has the potential to become the first person in NFL history to win a ring as a player and coach with the same team. Meanwhile, Drake Maye could become the youngest quarterback ever to win a Super Bowl.
Seattle's Sam Darnold became the first quarterback of the 2018 draft class (Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, etc.) to reach the Super Bowl. Now, he could be the first to win a ring.
Should the Seahawks win, Mike Macdonald will become the third-youngest (38) head coach ever to win a Super Bowl. He could also become the first head coach ever as the primary defensive play-caller to win a ring.
Who will be on the right side of history? Let's see who our experts picked!
Experts picks
Paul (regular season champion): Seahawks 30-20 Patriots
The Seahawks offense is pure dynamite. I’ve seen it dissect defence after defence, and as impressive as the Patriots have been, I fancy the Seahawks over them.
It's too early for Maye and his guys to win a ring, in my humble opinion. They've been offensively lacklustre in the playoffs, and when it counts, I'd rather bank on guys like JSN, Kenneth Walker, the Seahawks O-line than the Patriots offense.
The title is going to the NFC West, as I think it should.
Eric: Seahawks 23-18 Patriots
Seattle is on a run that may seem similar to the Patriots from a broad perspective. However, when you go back and watch the playoff games, I think it's clear who the better team is here out of the two.
The Seahawks are just on a different level at this point. Kenneth Walker III is on the brink of making franchise history. Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are on the verge of joining record books as well. And this defence?
Well, they didn't allow a single rusher to reach at least 100 yards in a single game. For a Patriots team that has drastically relied on their run game on their run to Super Bowl LX, that spells bad news for the boys from Foxborough. Not to mention their offence has yet to turn the ball over once in these playoffs.
Taking down division rivals in the San Francisco 49ers during the divisional round, shutting down Christian McCaffrey, then the Los Angeles Rams and NFL MVP Matthew Stafford in the NFC Championship, Seattle's path has been undeniably harder.
Give me the team that contained CMac and the MVP over the one that defeated a Chargers team without an offensive line, a Houston team with no offence, and a Broncos team with a backup quarterback.
Miguel: Patriots 18-14 Seahawks
Throughout the playoffs, I have been saying that the Patriots are my top pick to lift the Lombardi Trophy when all is said and done. Now is no different, and I predict that they will beat the Seahawks by a very narrow margin.
Despite Seattle’s physical strength, I believe that Mike Vrabel’s team’s ability to adapt to the challenges presented by their opponents will be decisive on Sunday during Super Bowl LX.
Maye will make NFL history and become the youngest starting quarterback ever to win a ring!
Henri: Seahawks 27-20 Patriots
It's the biggest game of the season and also the one I find most difficult to predict.
The Patriots have shown that they can win the “ugly” games in the playoffs, while Sam Darnold's offense has been consistently rolling for the Seahawks. Will Drake “Drake Maye” Maye and New England manage to take the final step in an unforgettable season?
It's probably too early to tell, but in all aspects, Seattle seems to me to be the stronger team here.
Nevertheless, it will be a great battle, as it so often is when these two teams meet. Ultimately, the Seahawks will have the chance to make up for their 11-year-old mistake and hopefully run the ball in the decisive play to be crowned Super Bowl champions in the end.
Michaela: Seahawks 31-27 Patriots
Despite both teams having really good defences, I think both teams will have success offensively.
I have no doubts Vrabel and the Patriots will turn it up and play really good football, but I think the Seahawks will outlast them by playing a bit tougher and more physical. Seattle will challenge New England to a degree they haven't seen yet this season.
I think late scoring will make the game close and interesting, but the Seahawks will hold off a comeback. Darnold is playing the best football of his life, and it will show today.
