The Dallas Cowboys acquired defensive end Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers in a trade deal on Monday in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round draft pick.

Gary, 28, is coming off back-to-back seasons with 7.5 sacks and at least 45 tackles. He's under contract for the next two seasons and is owed $18 million in 2026 and $21 million in 2027.

The team recently restructured offensive lineman Terence Steele's contract to free up $13 million in cap space.

Gary will be entering his eighth season after spending the first seven all with the Packers, who selected him with the 12th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Both teams continue to deal with each other as the Cowboys sent off star edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Packers ahead of the 2025 season.

Gary has never reached 10 sacks or 50 tackles in a season. However, his run defense grade has ranked in the top 17 for three straight seasons out of 114+ qualified defensive linemen.

On top of it all, Gary has been healthy. He's played in all but one game over the past three seasons.
