The Boston Celtics acquired veteran centre Nikola Vucevic in a trade deal with the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

In exchange, the Bulls received guard Anfernee Simons and a second-round draft pick.

After the team traded former centre Kristaps Porzingis and the departure of veteran centre Al Horford, the Celtics found themselves a starting centre in Vucevic, who is averaging 16.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.7 blocks, and 0.7 steals per game this season.

The 35-year-old from Montenegro will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

As for the 26-year-old Simons, he's averaging career-lows this season since the Celtics converted him from the full-time starter that he was with the Portland Trail Blazers, into a full-on role player. Simonds is averaging just 14.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 24.5 minutes per game this season.

Like Vucevic, Simons is also a free agent at the end of the season.
