Angola clinched a record-extending triumph at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket with a thrilling victory over Mali in the final played on Sunday night.

In a thrilling final at the Pavilhao Multiusos de Luanda, the Black Antelopes overpowered the West Africans 70-43 to secure a record 12th African title.

Mali’s 43 points marked the lowest total scored in an AfroBasket game in the past three decades.

After surviving a tense semi-final against Cameroon, the hosts came out blazing in the final, dominating every quarter with Childe Dundao leading the charge with 16 points.

Angola wrapped up their campaign with a flawless 6-0 record, while Mali, making their first-ever final appearance, finished 4-3.

Earlier on, Senegal secured third place with a convincing 98-72 victory over Cameroon. Jean-Jacques Boissy stole the spotlight with a record-breaking 40-point performance.

In the process, he surpassed the previous mark of 38 points set by Cape Verde’s Jeff Xavier in 2009. Boissy was well supported by teammates Brancou Badio and Ibou Badji, who contributed 18 and 12 points, respectively.

Dundao of Angola was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and earned a spot on the 2025 All-Tournament Team alongside his teammate Bruno Fernando, Mali’s Mahamane Coulibaly and Aliou Diarra, and Senegal’s Brancou Badio.

Other accolades included Fair Play (Madagascar), Leading Rebounder (Diarra), Leading Three-Point Shooter (Badio), and Leading Scorer (Badio).
