Starting pitcher Alex Cobb (37) officially signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night, hopping over from the division rival Cleveland Guardians.

The deal will include $1 million in bonuses if Cobb can eclipse 140 and 150 innings, which he did in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

The former Giants starting pitcher was recovering from hip surgery and dealt with a broken nail on his throwing hand, leading to pitching in just five games for the Guardians this past season.

Cobb will be entering his 14th year, playing for now his sixth team. He has a career 3.84 ERA and has thrown a sub-4.00 ERA in each of the past four seasons.

The former fourth-round pick and Boston native saw his first All-Star appearance with the San Francisco Giants in 2023 before being traded to the Guardians this past season, a 2023 season in which he was one out away from obtaining glory.

Now, he'll be joining a pitching staff with AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal and a promising Tigers team who were making a Cinderella run late last season.
