The Arizona Diamondbacks signed veteran Carlos Santana to a one-year deal on Tuesday, pending a physical.

Santana, 39, will be entering his 17th season in the majors. He spent the majority of last season with the Cleveland Guardians before they released him at the end of August. After clearing waivers, the Chicago Cubs signed him, where he only played in eight games.

The vet finished the 2025 season with 11 home runs, 54 RBI, and seven stolen bases with a .219/.308/.325 slash line through 124 games.

After making his big-league debut in 2010, Santana would go on to spend the first 10 of his 11 years with the Guardians (2010-2020) - having a brief one-year stint with the Philadelphia Phillies (2018) - finally returning to Cleveland this past season.

He's second all-time in the franchise's history in walks (933), fifth in home runs (227), and 11th in both RBI (762) and doubles (283).

Santana spent six years with six different teams that included the Minnesota Twins (2024), Pittsburgh Pirates (2023), Milwaukee Brewers (2023), Seattle Mariners (2022), and the Phillies (2018), also spending one-and-a-half years with the Kansas City Royals (2021-2022).

Santana is the definition of durability - he has not finished a single season playing less than 120 of the league's 162 games (COVID-19 season in 2020 excluded).
