Washington Wizards guard Trae Young will make his team debut on Thursday, February 5th, in their game against the Utah Jazz, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

Young, 27, was acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks earlier in the season in exchange for players CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert.

His 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per game are both the lowest they've been since his rookie season (2018-2019) - he's never averaged below 24.0/9.0 in any other seasons.

Young is a four-time NBA All-Star who was part of the 2021-2022 All-NBA team after averaging 28.4 points and 9.7 assists while shooting 38% from three-point range.

After the 2024-2025 season, Young was awarded the Assist Champion Award after leading the league with 880 assists and assists per game with 11.6 - Nikola Jokic was second with 716 total while averaging 10.6.

Young also led the league in total assists in back-to-back seasons (2020-2021) - he has finished every single season, except one (2023-2024), in the top four of total assists since entering the league.
