The Vegas Golden Knights signed forward Jack Eichel to an eight-year, $108 million contract extension on Wednesday.

Eichel's new contract that begins next season will have an average annual value of $13.5 million. He's currently in the final year of his eight-year, $80 million contract.

The former Stanley Cup champion is coming off a career year after putting up a personal best 56 assists paired with 28 goals (94 points). He also recorded four assists in four games for Team USA during last year's 4 Nations Face-Off.

Eichel has now put up at least 25 goals and 30 assists in each of the past three seasons.

Excluding the COVID season (2020-2021), the American standout has recorded at least 24 goals and 30 assists in all nine of his NHL seasons besides one - the 2021-2022 season, when he played in just 34 games after being out with a herniated disc in his neck.

The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft has put up 239 goals and 369 assists through 616 career games between the Buffalo Sabres (2015-2021) and Golden Knights (2021-present).

The Vegas Golden Knights play their first game of the season on Wednesday, October 8th, against the Los Angeles Kings.
