Torino are now winless in 24 Derby della Mole meetings with Juventus, but battled back from two goals down to draw 2-2 as Luciano Spalletti’s side missed out on a top-four finish in Serie A.

Following an hour-long delay to kick off, both sides took some time to get up to speed, and though the early exchanges were feisty, clear-cut chances were hard to come by.

The first major opening fell to Juve as a deep corner came all the way through to Federico Gatti, but with little time to react and a high bounce, he could only turn the ball over the bar from a yard out.

Despite the miss, that moment seemed to spark some life into the visitors, and they went on to take the lead midway through the first half.

The goal was created by a driving run from Khephren Thuram, and as he reached the edge of the area, he picked out Dusan Vlahovic, who took a touch to steady himself before firing a deflected effort past Alberto Paleari.

Torino failed to land an effort on target during the first half, but started brightly after the interval against a Juventus team who had learned during half-time that results elsewhere would keep them out of the top four regardless of the result here.

They weren’t able to find the quick equaliser, however, and their deficit was doubled on 54 minutes. Vlahovic was clinical again, this time producing a pinpoint first-time finish across Paleari after being slipped in by Francisco Conceicao.

Fortunately for Torino, they hit back on the hour mark to keep the game alive.

Rafa Obrador’s deep corner was met with a thumping header from Cesare Casadei, which evaded the visiting defenders before finding the far corner of the net.

Slack defending from set-pieces troubled the Bianconeri throughout the game, and they were caught again with six minutes to go, when Mattia Perin saved another Casadei header from a corner, but was powerless to stop Che Adams’ volleyed rebound.

Torino piled on the pressure in the closing stages, but failed to find a winner and were almost undone when Emil Holm let fly from range, forcing Paleari into an acrobatic save.

The result marks a disappointing end to the season for Juventus, who must make do with fifth place and UEFA Europa League football. Torino leapfrog Parma into 12th, and end the season on a high note after a stirring comeback.
