The Swedish tennis legend Mats Wilander says in a interview with eb.dk that he feels that Clara Tauson can become one of the best women players in the world.

After a couple of year where Tauson was haunted by injuries threatening to cut an end to her spiring career, she has taken big steps up the world rankings in 2025.

And if you ask the Swedish tennis legend Mats Wilander, she is by no means finished yet.

"I like her. I like her attitude. She is improving all the time. Every year she improves. She can definitely be in the top 10. She is one of those players who is a threat to everyone", he says

Wilander highlights Tauson's ability to read the game.

"She is excellent. She knows what she's doing. Looks like she has really good tennis IQ. She uses the right punches at the right times most of the time", he says.

The Danish tennis star has a very aggressive playing style, and although it can generate mistakes, Wilander believes it's the right way to go for Tauson.

"The game is going in that direction, so you will have to play aggressively."

"There are young players who don't play that game. They might be great tennis players, but they might play more like Daniil Medvedev or Caroline Wozniacki. But you can't play like that today."

"Sometimes you have to 'grind' (bones, ed.) - you have to, no matter what. But you have to be aggressive and you have to hit the ball hard. Especially when the balls have become so heavy and large."

The next tournament for Tauson starts on Monday 16 June, when she competes in the WTA 250 grass tournament in Nottingham.
