In ten days time Denmark will face Serbia in Davis Cup in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.
Holger Rune has already been selected, but there has been speculation if he would choose not to play if he made it far in the Australian Open.
But after the fourth round marked the end of Runes campaign at the Australian Open, the 21-year-old Danish star says he is ready to play.
"100 percent. If I am physically ready, I am convinced that I will play", says Rune to eb.dk
"I am very much looking forward to coming back to Denmark and playing for my country. It's a different feeling than playing out on tour. Hopefully we will get the match that everyone wants, between Djoko' and me. Otherwise, it will still be some good matches. Serbia is a tough opponent. I played against Kecmanovic, who is their second best player. So it will probably be fun", says Rune
Serbia has selected world star Novak Djokovic for the match but his participation depends on his progress at the Australian Open. On Tuesday, he plays in the quarter-finals against Carlos Alcaraz.
"I hope I come. The plan is for me to take part. I'm on the team."
"But because it's only a few days after the Australian Open final, we'll have to see how I play here and how I feel. Hopefully I can be available for our captain and play", said Novak Djokovic at a press conference before the tournament.
The Davis Cup clash will take place in Copenhagen from 31 January to 1 February.
