The difference between the two players was not evident at the beginning of the match, where both of them tried to get a grip on the game, without either of them succeeding.
Tauson broke the Uzbek's serve and took a 2-1 lead, but immediately after, Kudermetova broke back and equalized to 2-2.
Although Kudermetova had served well in the first games, she then suddenly made three double faults in her own service game and paved the way for a clean Danish break to give Tauson a 4-3 lead.
The Dane immediately took advantage of the situation and followed up with three aces in the next game, and extended it to 5-3.
The errors were now piling up for Kudermetova on the other side of the net, and as long as Tauson managed to keep the duels alive, she could almost be sure that Kudermetova would make an error.
After half an hour, Tauson closed out the first set after another serve breakthrough.
The Uzbek was not yet defeated, however, and she came out on top in the second set. Good returns and a Danish double fault helped secure a quick break for Kudermetova.

In the midst of adversity, the Dane briefly managed to keep the set alive and reduce the deficit to 3-4 before her opponent took the next two games and closed out the second set.
The third and decisive set developed into a real drama as Tauson threw away leads of 2-0, 4-2, and 5-4 against Kudermetova, who refused to be knocked out.
As Kudermetova made it 5-5, Tauson showed a strong mentality to clinch the next two games and set up a huge clash with Mboko.
