13:26 CET - In the final match of the day, 22nd second Katie Boulter (28) has survived a scare to win 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 against Rebecca Marino (34) of Canada.
13:10 CET - What a win for Joao Fonseca (18)! The NextGen Finals champion has beaten world number nine Andrey Rublev (27) 7-6, 6-3, 7-6 in his Grand Slam debut!

12:53 CET - Women's 34th seed Maria Sakkari (29) has also lost her first-round match, in her case against Camila Osorio (23). The Colombian prevailed over the Greek 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 after more than two and a half hours of play.
12:46 CET - If Alex De Minaur (25) winning was a boost to the local fans at the Aussie Open, the home faithful will be disheartened by the fact that 25th seed Alexei Popyrin (25) has been dumped out at the first hurdle by Frenchman Corentin Moutet (25), who won their match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
11:50 CET - Home hope Alex De Minaur (25) has kicked off his campaign in Melbourne with a 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 win over Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (29).

11:30 CET - Fan-favourite Ons Jabeur (30) has comfortably beaten Ukraine's Anhelina Kalinina (27) 6-3, 6-3 to cruise into the second round at the Australian Open.
10:40 CET - Women's fourth seed Jasmine Paolini (29) has made it through without much trouble, beating Chinese qualifier Sijia Wei (21) 6-0, 6-4.
Ben Shelton (22) and Lorenzo Musetti (22) are also through with wins over Brandon Nakashima (23) and Matteo Arnaldi (23) respectively.
08:38 CET - We very nearly had our first major upset of the tournament but fifth seed Daniil Medvedev (28) just about survived, fighting back to beat world number 418 Kasidit Samrej (23) 6-2, 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
It was a messy match from the Russian, who lost his cool a few times.
08:26 CET - Madison Keys (29) is through with the 19th seed winning 6-4, 7-5 against fellow American Ann Li (24).
07:37 CET - Sixth seed Elena Rybakina (25) is through thanks to a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Aussie wildcard Emerson Jones (16).
On the men's side, an absolute thriller has been won by Gael Monfils (38), who has beaten compatriot Giovanni Mpethsi Perricard (21) 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-7, 6-4 in just under four hours.
05:09 CET - In possibly the most intense match of the day that lasted a whopping three hours and 20 minutes, Emma Navarro (23) beat out Peyton Stearns (23) 6-7, 7-6(5), 7-5 in a battle of former NCAA champions to advance to the next round.
04:58 CET - Holger Rune (21) held on in a wild five-setter to defeat Zhizhen Zhang (28) 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. This marks Rune's third straight year advancing to the second round of the Australian Open. This time around he will face 2022 semi-finalist Matteo Berrettini.
04:30 CET - In a battle of the Americans, fourth-seeded Taylor Fritz (27) swept his way to the next round after a 6-2, 6-0, 6-3 victory over Jenson Brooksby (24), who played in his first match in almost two years.
04:10 CET - Matteo Berrettini (28) took down Cameron Norrie (29) 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 to claim his first win of 2025 in an exciting matchup between former top 10 players. This also marks Berrettini's first win against a leftie at the Australian Open.
03:52 CET - Beatriz Haddad Maia (28) battled back against Julia Riera (22), beating her 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in a thrilling matchup.
03:29 CET - Despite 15 double faults, the 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu (22) defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova (30) 7-6(4), 7-6(2) thanks to nine aces. She'll now face close friend Amanda Anisimova (23) in the second round.
02:22 CET - Daria Kasatkina (27) made lightwork of Viktoriya Tomova (29) in her 6-2, 6-3 victory with a pair of aces. Tomova had five double faults to Kastkina's none.
23:05 CET - The standout matches today are the all-American clash between Fritz and Brooksby on the men's side and Elena Rybakina's (25) encounter with Aussie teen Emerson Jones (16) on the women's side.
