From Igor Paixao's five goal contributions, to Victor Osimhen's hat-trick for Galatasaray, plenty of players stood out across the world of football - but who made our top XI?

Here is our Team of the Week:

Goalkeeper

Peter Gulacsi (RB Leipzig) - 8.7

At the age of 34, RB Leipzig goalkeeper Gulacsi is still proving his worth at the top of the Bundesliga with a fine performance that saw him keep a clean sheet against Borussia Dortmund as his side ran out 2-0 winners.

The Hungarian 'wall' made nine out of nine saves in the victory, depriving Dortmund of a goal in a game where the visitors had an xG of 3.06, according to Opta.

Defence

Arthur Masuaku (Besiktas) - 9.0

It was a weekend to forget for Besiktas after they fell to a 1-0 defeat to nine-men Konyaspor. But, a glimmer of joy came from left-back Masuaku.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo international was a threat down the flank all game with powerful shots and pinpoint crosses, but his side were unable to convert the chances he created into goals.

Walker Zimmerman (Nashville) - 9.0

Over to MLS, where Nashville got their second win of the season in a 3-1 win over Philadelphia Union and one standout player was Zimmerman.

The centre-back played a fortuitous diagonal ball to former Bournemouth striker Sam Surridge that was converted and gave the defender an assist. At the back, he made an astonishing 23 clearances, two interceptions and all of his tackles.

Patrick Mainka (Heidenheim) - 8.6

It was a battle at the bottom of the Bundesliga as Heidenheim met Holstein Kiel with a win for either side massive and it was the hosts Heidenheim who came out on top.

Mainka put in a captain's display at the heart of the defence, making 11 interceptions and grabbing an assist along the way. Heidenheim are still six points away from automatic safety, but a first win in nine will certainly lift the spirits.

Adryelson (Anderlecht) - 8.8

The 'final' game of the league season in Belgium before the split saw Anderlecht see off Cercle Brugge 3-0 at home to keep up their chances of European qualification whilst consigning their opponents to the relegation group.

Brazilian Andryelson was impressive in the win, scoring the second goal of the day for Anderlecht, whilst also performing well at the back.

Midfield

Igor Paixao (Feyenoord) - 9.7

Our standout performance of the weekend came from Paixao, as he ran riot during Feyenoord's 6-2 demolition of FC Twente.

The Brazilian was insatiable in the win, scoring a hat-trick and assisting another two goals - gaining more goal contributions in the weekend's match than he had for the rest of the year.

The pick of the bunch was his first goal, a rocket into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no hope of saving it.

Alassane Plea (Borussia Monchengladbach) - 8.8

From one hat-trick hero to another, Plea was the match-winner for Borussia Monchengladbach in their 4-2 win over Werder Bremen.

The Frenchman was clinical in front of goal on Saturday, scoring three of his four shots in the game, whilst creating two chances - one of which was an assist.

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) - 9.1

After coming in for some criticism from former Manchester United captain Roy Keane for his 'on-field antics', Bruno Fernandes did his talking on the pitch on Sunday with a star turn against Leicester City on Sunday evening.

The Portuguese playmaker scored one goal and assisted two more in the 3-0 victory whilst controlling the game, making the most passes of anyone as well as the most touches. He also completed 75% of his tackles for a great all-round performance.

The Red Devils will need more of this if they are to recover from what has been a disastrous season.

Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest) - 8.7

Nottingham Forest continued their charge for Champions League football next season with a 4-2 win over Premier League strugglers Ipswich Town on Saturday as Elanga got in amongst the goals.

The winger was in fine form during the victory, netting a four-minute brace before the break to give his side control of the encounter.

Alongside his two goals, the Swedish international won three of his six duels and even chipped in with a couple of tackles won.

Forwards

Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray) - 9.0

Osimhem stayed in the goals over the weekend, as he netted a hat-trick for unbeaten Galatasaray to keep their title tilt on course in the 4-0 thrashing of mid-table Antalyaspor.

The Napoli loanee scored the first of the game in the 30th minute after combining with Alvaro Morata before slotting home two more. All of his goals, for his level, were simple finishes, but the confidence of the player is such that he is making everything look easy at the moment in Istanbul.

Luuk de Jong (PSV) - 8.3

After being knocked out 9-2 on aggregate to Arsenal in the Champions League in midweek, PSV closed the gap to six points on Eredivisie rivals Ajax at the weekend with a 3-0 win over lowly Waalwijk.

In their first away win of 2025, De Jong showed his class once again, with the veteran striker getting two goal contributions in the victory.

He set up Ivan Perisic for their opener in the fourth minute before he sent an accurate header into the back of the net to round off the scoring.
